Work was miserable. Kaylen stumbled over her feet as she walked into the cemetery. One of her coworkers and friend mentioned how she went to the cemetery to visit her parents when she saw Kaylen's last name there.
Probably just a coincidence. I doubt I know the person
So after work Kaylen thought to check out the tombstone of this Nagle person that her friend found. Maybe it was nothing, but maybe it was something. It's been a few weeks since Taryen left for Maine. What if something happened to her while she was preparing to head back? What if she was killed and they didn't have any way to find out where Kaylen's apartment was?
No, she told herself firmly. she is alive, she has to be alive.
This made her hurry as she weaved in and out of the different tombstones. She scanned to find a Jonathan Barber and Laura Barber, the names of her friend's parents. It was hard since she was going through the cemetery at night, and her flashlight was dying. Soon the batteries would die and she wouldn't have anyway of...
She stopped, and saw what she came to find. Johnathan Barber and Laura Barber. To her left she thought she'd find the Nagle tombstone. She didn't see it. She went to go closer, but she somehow tripped. Then she saw it. Probably the smallest tombstone in the whole cemetery, or of the ones that she saw anyway. It was her worst fear. On the tombstone she could barely read the name because of the light. Taryen Nagle. Her little sister...dead.
Tears filled her eyes as she got up and ran. She just ran without caring where she was going. Kaylen didn't want to go back there to see that grave again. She didn't want to see her sister's name. What happened to her? Why was she dead? Then once again she tripped and fell, but this time hard. She gasped, having the wind knocked out of her. This time Kaylen didn't get up. She just layed on the ground, crying. And she mumbled her sister's name, "Taryen..."
