Midnight. Kaylen couldn't sleep. She couldn't believe the letter she received from her sister just earlier. She had to read it over and over again. At first she thought it was some sort of prank that Taryen pulled, but she wouldn't do something like that. She just couldn't. She wasn't in California anymore. No, instead she moved back home to their grandparents house in Maine. Why? Kaylen didn't know, and her sister surely didn't explain.
Maybe she was fed up with their fruitless search to find James and their parents. Maybe she missed her friends back at home and wanted to see them. Maybe...there was too many possibilities, she couldn't figure out which one it could be. She couldn't stand being in her apartment anymore. She left it to go to her favorite spot in the world. She got in her car and drove. She kept driving until she got to the woods.
Kaylen Nagle welcomed the sound of the night as she entered the woods. Breathing in deeply she enjoyed the fresh air. Being stuck in an apartment all the time drove her insane. Being outdoors brought her a sense of freedom. Not a single sound that she heard echong through the forest seem strange to h at all. Nothing seemed out of place. The branches snapping beneath her, the wind howling, the endless momvement of animals in their home. She loved it all.
Sitting down on a fallen tree she looked up at the sky. Trees mostly obscured her view. The moon barely sneaked through the leaves, it hardly lit the ground for her to see. She pressed the light up button on her watch and it read 12:13. Kaylen decided to head back, but she stayed anyway, enjoying herself, wondering if anyone else thought to do the same as her.
